who's your master?

That which you choose to enlarge or multiply indicates who the master of your life is.

If you constantly choose to multiply thoughts of anxiety or fear, you’re living as if your master is Satan.  If you’re enlarging feelings of bitterness or hatred, your master is the devil.  If you’re multiplying unbelief, you’re serving the wrong master!  God never entrusts us with anxiety, fear, bitterness, hatred, or unbelief.

But if you choose to multiply your joy, your peace, your faith, your thanksgiving, your patience, your forgiveness, or your love, then you’re serving the true master.  God entrusts us with that which is good and He calls us to multiply and enlarge it.

Who’s your master?

touch and words

Looking back, I’m realizing how intimately God really knows me.  There was a time in college when God really got a hold of me.  I had such a powerful encounter with Him in my room.  I was on my knees crying out to Him, and I physically felt Him come up behind me and wrap His big arms around my body.  Then, I heard Him whisper in my ear, “You are my beloved son whom I love.  You’re my favorite one.”  I started weeping.  I felt so touched, loved, accepted, freed all at that moment.

It was a great moment in itself.  But I just had a new revelation a few days ago about that encounter.  My top two love languages (and they are STRONG) are physical touch and then words of affirmation.  Looking back, those are the two ways in which He encountered me!  I felt His touch and then I heard His words.  He knew just exactly how to get to my heart.  He knows me!

God knows you.  I mean, He really KNOWS you.  Hallelujah.

Top 10 Books: #3 - Culture Of Honor (By Danny Silk)

I want to do a short blog series about my 10 favorite books… so far.  These are books that radically changed my thinking and my lifestyle.  I hope these entries inspire some of you to check them out!

After reading this book, I truly believe that great movements of God are sustained and fueled by a culture of honor.  As Danny Silk shares the DNA of what a culture of honor looks like, it doesn’t surprise me that this is the very heart that Redding’s Bethel operates from.  This book changed my way of thinking and really opened my eyes to the power of Godly honor in our world.

Top 10 Books: #4 - The Chronicles Of Narnia (By C.S. Lewis)

I want to do a short blog series about my 10 favorite books… so far.  These are books that radically changed my thinking and my lifestyle.  I hope these entries inspire some of you to check them out!

I remember reading all the Narnia books when I was little.  I remember liking them.  But a few years ago, I picked up the series again as a college student, and I LOVED them.  The thing I love most about the Narnia books isn’t that they such beautifully symbolize Christian themes all throughout the series.  What I love most about these books are that they are simply at the heart of them all, stories.  Narnia doesn’t try to be more than a fun and adventurous read.  C.S. Lewis, when asked in an interview about the underlying themes and symbols in his books, responded that his books weren’t meant for anything more than pure and unadulterated enjoyment.  He preferred you read his series as a child in search of adventure, rather than a theologian in search of deeper meaning.  The deeper meaning comes, but comes most powerfully through the gate of childlike awe and wonder.  For those of you who haven’t read this book as an adult, pick it up and come as a child!  Get lost in the stories and enjoy them :)

the statistics

There are some pretty alarming statistics we hear about so very often. Some of them are horrifying. 22,000 children die of hunger each day. 2 children are trafficked for sexual exploitation every minute. 1 person commits suicide every 40 seconds! And the list goes on and on. I read these statistics and at times I get overwhelmed by what great havoc the devil is wreaking on our planet. But today the Lord spoke to me through a brother about the statistics that aren’t mentioned as often.

How many people are saved throughout the world each year? How many people are being delivered from the bondage of their addictions every day? How many people are being rescued by the hands of the Lord every minute? How many people are encountering God this very second?? Not to discredit the horrors of what the world is experiencing, but how much greater is the work of our God than the work of the wretched one? Every moment, every second, somewhere God is on the move!

It’s easy to be blinded by the devil’s work and believe there’s no hope for the world. But just imagine that if the devil is doing this much, God’s doing that much more! It doesn’t mean we totally neglect these horrible statistics. But it means we are never overwhelmed by them.

God’s redemption travels at a far greater intensity than the destruction of the devil.

Top 10 Books: #5 - The Shack (By William Paul Young)

I want to do a short blog series about my 10 favorite books… so far.  These are books that radically changed my thinking and my lifestyle.  I hope these entries inspire some of you to check them out!

There was a lot of controversy surrounding this book.  Some say it was theologically incorrect and blasphemous.  Personally, I LOVED it.  It’s a very unique glimpse at certain characteristics of who God is as the Trinity.  The images and conversations were so beautifully and tastefully woven, so much so that I was actually brought to tears a number of times while reading through it all.   This book provides such a fresh perspective on God’s nature and heart for humanity.  A must read!
